Aurora Australis and the Milky Way in Tasmania

One of my earliest Milky Way photos and still one of my best.  It was 10pm on a isolated beach just outside Dunalley in Tasmania Australia where I set my camera up for some astro.  Imagine my amazement when I worked out the vivid red and green in my picture was not the camera malfunctioning but actually the Aurora Australis! Being only a Kp3 on the index I couldn’t actually see the Aurora with my own eyes (other than the faintest white lights on the south horizon) but the camera sees everything!

The mockup in the loungeroom is roughly what the larger 1.1m wide print would look like
